Selbsthilfegruppe „trans* und Ich“

“trans* and I” is to be understood as an addition to the already available offers for trans* people in the Rhein-Neckar region. This meeting is explicitly for parents, partners, relatives and associates and thus closes a gap in the already existing offers which usually are aimed at trans*, inter and non-binary people themselves. But not only they are having a long and hard journey after their coming-out. Their closest people are often not prepared for this big step and are shocked by the news. In the time after the coming out, not only is empathy required in order to be of support and help the person who outed themself but to also self-reflect and to be open about any worries, fears and emotions. By sharing information and experiences in the group, we want to be able to put ourselves in a position to be able to support and accompany the person in the best possible way, but also to talk about what these profound changes in our immediate environment do to ourselves in this protected environment.
In this way, we will help each other to overcome obstacles, while always being trans*affirmative and mindful in our dealings with each other. Together we are strong!
The group will be moderated by Ilka Kaufmann, counselor for trans* and intersex people at the dgti (German Society for Transidentity and Intersexuality).
The meetings are happening every 1st and 3rd Monday at 7 pm.
