In addition to rooms for events and group meetings, the QZM also has its own café where people can linger and chat.

There are various hot and cold non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. We do not offer food, but you are welcome to bring your own food from home or from one of the many restaurants and snack bars in the area.

The exchange extends beyond the community: we have opted for an open café so that people outside the queer community also have the opportunity to come together and find a place to feel comfortable. At the same time, the QZM Café remains a safer space for queer people.

The café is run by volunteers. If you would like to help out, new faces are always welcome. Once a month there is a board meeting where interested parties can find out more about the QZM and get to know the board directly. Are you over 18 years old and interested in supporting us at the QZM Café or would you like to find out more about volunteering at the QZM Café?

Here is the most important information:

We organize volunteer work in the QZM Café and at events via signal groups. A shift in the café usually lasts 2.5 to 3.5 hours.

You can simply do a trial shift in the QZM Café and find out whether you enjoy this work.

There are no specific requirements for a trial shift. You can also register without any prior knowledge, the café team will be happy to explain how everything works. How can I register? You can drop by the next boardroom counter at QZM or contact info@qzm-rn.de for more information.

The café team also holds team meetings and undertakes leisure activities together from time to time.

As well as selling drinks, the café team also decorates areas of the QZM or sometimes helps with setting up for events.

If you decide to become a permanent part of the café team you should undergo food safety and hygiene training training.

Further information on food safety and hygiene training training can be found on the website of Stadt Mannheim. The registration form for the training and send it directly by email to 58.LMHSch@mannheim.de . The training itself lasts approx. 60 minutes and costs 31 euros. The QZM can cover the costs if required. We will try to find a date once a month to hold the training together.
