Besides room for events and group meetings, the QZM offers its own café for relaxation and conversing.
We offer different cold and warm non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. We don’t offer food but you’re welcome to bring your own food from home or some of the many restaurants in the area.
The exchange goes beyond the community: we chose to offer an open café, so that people outside of the queer community also have the opportunity to come together and find a space to feel good.
The café is run by volunteers in two shifts per night. If you want to help, we’re always happy to welcome new people in our team. You can come to our monthly “Ersti Abend”, which is an evening where members of our team inform new-comers about the QZM. You’ll learn about the general workings of the QZM as well as the different teams and groups (“Arbeitsgemeinschaften”), there is something for everyone! The exact date and time can be found on our social media channels but in the case of a language barrier, you can always email us at info@qzm-rn.de.
Relaxation is easy with a good book or a round of table football.

In the Engelsystem (angel system) we currently have five different types of angels:
Café-Angel, Apprentice-Café-Angel, QZM-Angel, Tech-Angel and the Racing Photography-Angel, more information can be found in the FAQs.
Um dich für Schichten als Probearbeit-Café-Engel, QZM-Engel oder als Rasenden Foto-Engel einzutragen, braucht es keine bestimmten Voraussetzungen. Du kannst dich auch ohne Vorkenntnisse anmelden, das Engel-Team wird dir gerne erklären, wie alles funktioniert.
There are no specific requirements to register as an Apprentice-Café-Angel, QZM-Angel or Racing Photography-Angel. You can register without previous knowledge, the Angel-Team will explain everything to you.
As a Café-Angel you should meet the following requirements:
- You need to be at least 18 years old
- friendly appearance/finding joy in the contact with people
- Language skills German and/or English
- Reliability and individual responsibility
- Completion of the Lebensmittelhygieneschulung (Food & hygiene course)
You can find more information about the Lebensmittelhygieneschulung under engel.qzm-rn.de/faq or on the website of the city of Mannheim. The Registration Formular for the course can be filled out independently and sent to 58.LMHSch@mannheim.de. The course takes about 60 minutes and costs 31€. If needed, the QZM can cover the costs. We’ll see if we find an appointment to complete the course together.
