“The Earth as Lover-Walks” Dokumentation und Performance

Am 23.08. ab 20 Uhr findet im Atrium der Kunsthalle Mannheim eine Performance und Filmvorführung im Rahmen der “The Earth as Lover” Veranstaltungsreihe statt! Hier könnt ihr kostenlos Plätze buchen. Es handelt sich um eine Dokumentation der “The Earth as Lover-Walks”, die vom 19.-23.08. auf der BUGA stattfinden!
In liebevolle Beziehung mit der Erde treten? Wie das funktioniert, machen Annie Sprinkle und Beth Stephens in ihrer Performance „The Earth as Lover“ vor. Die Performance ist eine Weiterentwicklung der Grundgedanken der beiden US-amerikanischen Künstlerinnen, gemeinsam mit queeren Künstler*innen aus Mannheim. Die Arbeit der Künstler*innen soll „in anderen den Wunsch wecken, die Erde zu lieben, zu schätzen und zu ehren als wäre sie ihre Geliebte anstatt von der Erde zu erwarten, dass sie sie wie eine Mutter versorgt“. Aus der häufig bemühten „Mutter Erde“ wird hier die „Geliebte Erde“ – die Liebe und Schutz verdient. „The Earth as Lover“ stellt zentrale Fragen nach der Verortung der Einzelnen in der Welt: wie stehe ich in der Welt? Wie stehe ich mit meiner Umwelt in Verbindung? Wie wirkt die Welt auf mich?

On Wednesday, the 23rd August, you can watch the screening of the “The Earth as Lover-Walks”-documentary. Subject of the documentary are the five walks with the name “The Earth as Lover”, developed especially for the BUGA 23, under the artistic guidance of the great Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens!
The artists will also deliver a live-performance on the same evening. The performance and movie screening will take place at the Kunsthalle Mannheim. The event starts at 8 PM and is a part of the „Earth as Lover“ event series.
“The Earth as Lover” asks central questions about the location of individuals in the world: How do I stand in the world? How do I connect with my environment? How does the world affect me? Together with queer artists from Mannheim, Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens demonstrate in their performance how anyone can enter into a loving relationship with the earth.
