Das QZM ist stolz und freut sich sehr am Samstag, 7. Oktober, ab 18.30 Uhr eine Veranstaltung zum Austausch mit der*dem international bekannten südafrikanischen, queeren Künstler*in Zanele Muholi und ihrem*seinem Team zu ermöglichen. Im Rahmen des Festivals Enjoy Jazz Festivals hat Zanele Muholi in Begegnungen vom QZM als save(r) Space für unsere queere Community erfahren und will das QZM kennenlernen und in diesem Rahmen in einen Austausch mit uns gehen.
Muholi zeigt ihren*seinen Film „Difficult Love“ von 2011 und wir können uns im Anschluss mit ihr und ihrem Team in entspannter Atmosphäre austauschen.
Inhalte des Films „Difficult Love“:
Gewalt gegen Schwarze, queere Menschen, Diskriminierung, sexualisierte und sexuelle Gewalt gegen Schwarze, lesbische Menschen. Erzählungen von Gewalt- und Diskriminierungserfahrungen von betroffenen Personen.
Zanele Muholi ist eine*ein international anerkannte*r südafrikanische Fotograf*in und Aktivist*in, deren*dessen Arbeit sich auf die Erforschung von Identität, Geschlechterrollen und der Repräsentation von Schwarzen Menschen und LGBTQ+ Gemeinschaften konzentriert.
Mit einzigartigen und ausdrucksstarken Fotografien hat Muholi weltweit Anerkennungen und zahlreiche Preise erhalten. Es haben u. a. Ausstellungen während der Documenta 13, in der Tate Modern London, im Gropius Bau Berlin und im MEP Paris stattgefunden. Bis zum 04.11.2023 zeigt Engelhorn in Kooperation mit Enjoy Jazz, kuratiert von Maxi Broecking, eine Einzelausstellung fotografischer Portraits und Selbstportraits aus der Serie „Somnyama Ngonyama/Hail the dark Lioness“.
Die Ausstellung ist vom 6.10. – 4.11.2023 im 4. OG bei Engelhorn Mode im Quadrat frei zugänglich.
Der Film und das Gespräch sind auf Englisch. Wir unterstützen aber gerne beim Übersetzen.

The QZM is proud and very pleased to host an event on Saturday, October 7th, starting at 6:30 p.m. to exchange ideas with the internationally known South African queer artist Zanele Muholi and their team. As part of the Enjoy Jazz Festival, Zanele Muholi has experienced the QZM as a save(r) space for our queer community in encounters and wants to get to know the QZM and have an exchange with us.
Muholi shows her*his film „Difficult Love“ from 2011 and afterwards we can chat with her and her team in a relaxed atmosphere.
Contents of the film “Difficult Love”:
Violence against blacks, queer people, discrimination, sexualized and sexual violence against blacks, lesbians. Stories of experiences of violence and discrimination of affected persons.
Zanele Muholi is an internationally recognized South African photographer and activist whose work focuses on the exploration of identity, gender roles and representation of Black people and LGBTQ+ communities.
With their unique and expressive photographs, Muholi has received recognition and numerous awards all over the world. Exhibitions have taken place during Documenta 13, Tate Modern London, Gropius Bau Berlin and MEP Paris. Until November 4th 2023 Engelhorn, in cooperation with Enjoy Jazz, curated by Maxi Broecking, is presenting a solo exhibition of photographic portraits and self-portraits from the series “Somnyama Ngonyama/Hail the dark Lioness”.
The exhibition can be seen from October 6th until November 4th on the 4th floor at Engelhorn Mode im Quadrat.
